Day 1:Arrival in Colombo – Gateway to the Ramayana Trail

Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport and meet your tour representative. Proceed to your hotel in Colombo. After check-in, enjoy a short orientation tour of Colombo, visiting Kelaniya Temple, believed to have been sanctified by Lord Buddha and associated with King Vibheeshana from the Ramayana. In the evening, explore Colombo’s cultural attractions such as Independence Square, Galle Face Green, and local markets. Overnight stay in Colombo.

Day 2: Colombo – Chilaw – Kandy (Approx. 5–6 hrs drive)

After breakfast, drive to Chilaw to visit the Munneswaram Temple, where Lord Rama is said to have prayed to Lord Shiva after defeating Ravana, seeking absolution for Brahmahatya dosha. Later, proceed to Manavari Temple, known as the first Lingam consecrated by Lord Rama, called the “Ramalingam.” Continue to Kandy, the cultural capital of Sri Lanka, and check into your hotel. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Kandyan dance performance and visit the scenic Kandy Lake. Overnight stay in Kandy.

Day 3: Kandy – Ramboda – Nuwara Eliya (Approx. 3–4 hrs drive)

After breakfast, visit Sri Baktha Hanuman Temple in Ramboda, believed to mark the place where Lord Hanuman searched for Devi Sita. The temple, managed by Chinmaya Mission, offers panoramic views of surrounding hills. Visit Ramboda Falls, one of Sri Lanka’s most scenic waterfalls. Continue to Nuwara Eliya, also known as “Little England,” surrounded by tea plantations and colonial buildings. In the evening, explore Gregory Lake and the city’s market area. Overnight stay in Nuwara Eliya.

Day 4: Nuwara Eliya – Seetha Eliya – Hakgala

Today, visit Seetha Amman Temple at Seetha Eliya, the spot where Devi Sita was held captive by Ravana. The temple’s stream is believed to be where she bathed, and footprints nearby are said to belong to Hanuman. Then visit Hakgala Botanical Garden, once known as Ashok Vatika, where Hanuman first met Sita. Stroll through this serene garden surrounded by mountains. Later, visit Divurumpola Temple, where Sita is said to have undergone the Agni Pariksha. Overnight stay in Nuwara Eliya.

Day 5: Nuwara Eliya – Ella (Approx. 3 hrs drive)

After breakfast, drive to Ella, a tranquil mountain town known for its mythological and natural beauty. Visit the Ravana Cave, where Ravana is believed to have hidden Sita, and Ravana Falls, one of Sri Lanka’s most beautiful waterfalls linked to the epic. Explore Ella Gap for panoramic views of lush valleys and tea estates. You can also enjoy a short trek to Little Adam’s Peak for a breathtaking sunset. Overnight stay in Ella.

Day 6: Ella – Kataragama (Approx. 3 hrs drive)

After breakfast, proceed to Kataragama, a sacred pilgrimage town worshipped by Hindus and Buddhists alike. Visit the Kataragama Temple, dedicated to Lord Skanda (Murugan), who is also associated with the Ramayana. It is believed that Lord Indra blessed Lord Rama here after his victory. Spend the evening attending the temple’s evening puja, a spiritually uplifting experience. Overnight stay in Kataragama.

Day 7 Kataragama – Colombo (Approx. 6–7 hrs drive)

Drive back to Colombo, enjoying the scenic countryside along the way. On arrival, check into your hotel and spend the afternoon at leisure. You may visit local markets for souvenirs or enjoy authentic Sri Lankan cuisine at a seaside restaurant. In the evening, visit Anjaneyar Hanuman Temple in Colombo, one of the few temples dedicated solely to Hanuman in the capital. Overnight stay in Colombo.

Day 8 Departure from Colombo
